Exploring Your Options For Replacement Auto Parts

Posted on

Is your vehicle currently in need of cosmetic or mechanical repairs? If so, you should know that you have three different options available to you when buying the replacement auto parts that you need. In this article, you will be able to learn more about each of these three options.

Option #1: New Auto Parts

The option of buying new auto parts is the option that many people are most familiar with. These are the auto parts that you will pick up from your local auto parts store or have your mechanic order for you. The greatest benefit to buying new parts is that they often come with a warranty to ensure you do not need to purchase the same parts again in the near future. Buying new parts also has the benefit of allowing you to enjoy the longest possible lifespan from your replacement parts. Unfortunately, these benefits will come at a higher cost than you will pay for other types of replacement parts. You may also find it difficult to locate brand new parts made specifically for your vehicle if you are repairing an older vehicle.

Option #2: Used Auto Parts

The option of buying used auto parts is typically the most affordable option you have available to you. Used auto parts can often be purchased through scrap metal and auto wrecking yards. In some cases, you can also purchase these parts directly from private sellers who are looking to sell the parts off an unwanted vehicle. Used parts are taken directly off another vehicle and then sold. Since the lifespan associated with used parts can vary dramatically from one part to the next, these parts often come with no warranty. Consequently, many people find that the option of buying used auto parts is best when buying parts such as a replacement door or bumper rather than mechanical parts such as an engine or transmission.

Option #3: Rebuilt Or Refurbished Auto Parts

The option of buying rebuilt or refurbished auto parts aims to combine the benefits of both used and new parts. These replacement parts are removed from other vehicles but unlike used parts which are sold directly off another car, rebuilt or refurbished parts first undergo a thorough inspection and repair process before being sold. Consequently, these parts are often more reliable and last longer than traditional used parts. This process also allows for rebuilt and refurbished parts to be sold with a warranty which is often similar to the warranty that is offered when buying new parts. These parts can typically be purchased for a cost that is lower than new parts, but which is slightly higher than that of used parts.
